Minister for the Information Society,Tom Kitt TD, officiated at the formal opening of Novara’s offices in Dublin’s city centre on December 8th. The event coincided with the announcement of the creation of 10 new jobs at Novara over the coming year thanks to a new investment in the company by the Dublin City Enterprise Board.
The formal opening of Novara’s offices, located less than 10 metres from the Millennium Spire, marks the culmination of 4 years work on the building, which saw a semi derelict warehouse facility change into modern offices capable of accommodating up to 30 staff.
Speaking at the official opening Minister Tom Kitt T.D. said: "Today's proceedings are not only about opening these fine new offices. Today, we have the opportunity to celebrate the growth of an Irish success story. It is important that Irish companies are in a position to compete at national and international levels. Novara.ie is clearly competing and prospering. I look forward to seeing Novara.ie continue to prosper well into the New Year and beyond.”
Greg Swift, CEO for the Dublin City Enterprise Board stated that he was delighted at the progress made by the company and the innovative developments that Novara have made, “Novara.ie is the type of company that Dublin City Enterprise Board are happy to invest preference shares in and provide support services to help the business develop. The company has started to automate its own support services which has not only improved the speed and quality of the service to it's clients it has also made the company more competitive as it has released staff to concentrate on growing the business.”
Eoin Costello established Novara in November of 2000 in a spare bedroom in his house with the proceeds from the sale of his retail business www.costellojewellers.ie . With very little IT knowledge he faced major challenges in the first 3 years of the business including the departure of the company’s technical manager, the closure of the company’s data centre, Worldport, and the renovation of the company's offices.
Speaking at the event Eoin Costello stated that 2005 has been a good year for Novara, as the company has grown in every sense of the word. Not only had staff numbers increased but new products and services have been added to the company’s range. The year also saw the company receive a number of Awards in recognition of their achievements.
